Got a chance to race with an old friend in the Schuylkill Navy Regatta this weekend!
We rowed in the open women's double and an open four. got lost on our way down there and ended up warming up in a bout 5 minutes (my first 5 minutes in a double/sculling not in a tubby) but it was a great race! we came in 2nd (out of two ;D) and made it into the finals
we then raced in an open 4 with some masters rowers. The coxswain had apparently coxed for Holly at some point, she was adorabbllleeee. One of the masters rowers caught a full on crab, and we came to a complete halt near the beginning, but we picked it up pretty well afterwards...
Overall lessons learned from my first experiences in club rowing on the schuylkill:
-rowing with a coxswain is MUCH less stressful (My friend Aidan and I strayed from lane 3 to lane 0 in our first race teehee)
-boathouse row is gorgeous
-sculling is fun but dangerous! (my two index fingers will have band aids on them for a few weeks now)
-quads exist! and they don't have coxswains :/ (so terrifying to me)
This looks like so much fun! Well done Sophie!!
