Backpacking and U23s

Agreed with Hilda about people posting on here more often!

I had a pretty crazy week last week. For some reason I decided it would be pretty fun to try to row with the U23 women who row at my club (I know, right as the summer is coming to a close...) so rather than join that team in any typical fashion (ie, signing up) I showed up at the boathouse a couple hours early one day and asked if they needed extra rowers that day. The coach asked my name and made sure I was a college rower and I got thrown in a quad. Apparently they do not practice on Thursdays because after practice the coach came up to me and said, "tomorrow, same time, bao" which I now know means "by appointment only". I show up to practice the next morning only to find out I am seat racing...doubles. Excellent. Turns out I made the boat and was going to race at this big regatta in MN in a couple weeks, but the head junior coach (aka my boss) said I couldn't coach and race in the same regatta. Bye bye, U23 women.

In other news I went on a backpacking trip this weekend - hiking is hard! But I managed to escape the bears and mosquitoes (mostly) and only come home 24 hours early, which isn't too bad!

Back to summer as usual...can't wait to see everyone soon!

  1. Congrats on making the team...was it the University of Minnesota dev. camp?

  2. Honestly I don't know exactly what they are. The coach is the husband of the womens coach at the University of Minnesota so there is inevitably some connection and most of the girls are beastly openweights from there but otherwise I know very little about the team at all
