rowing on the Weser

Hey Guys,

I'm writing from my third day at work here in Germany. I haven't offended anyone by accident or anything yet with my tentative grasp on the language :P

Last night, i made a trip down to the boathouse--they call it ruderhaus, which literally means 'rudder house'. From what i could tell, a tubby triple and then double rowed by--tubby becasue it looked like a fat boat from where i was standing. To top it off, they were coxswained :) certainly surprised me. and when i say trip i mean a ten minute walk becasue i live about half a mile from the Weser river.

Unfortunately the computer at work doesn't allow me to upload pictures and as far as i know, there isn't a wireless connection that my laptop can use so i'll try posting later when i locate a compatible computer.

Hope everyone is chillaxing a bit,
Victoria

  1. What does the Weser look like? Is it clean, tree-ey, is it bigger than the Charles? I'm sure its cleaner than the Cooper River haha

  3. so the Weser river actually does remind me a lot of the cooper river. it's brown and has trees and fields surrounding it for miles. the current is 5-7km/hr and it makes for a very interesting row since the return trip just seems like nothing when you're rowing with the current.

the coach at the boathouse was very welcoming and once we (Sabine and I) showed up to the boathouse, he was just like yea hop in a boat. soooo I got to row in a quad! and sabine took out a double with her mom. 11K row. whew. was not expecting that so yea, rather sore and tired right now (even though i was at half pressure) but worth the fun and it is friday so hopefully i can recover over the weekend.
