Running on the Mall

I went running on the Mall today. I got to run by the reflecting pool, the World War II Memorial, the Washington Monument, a bunch of the Smithsonian Museums, and I went all the way down to the Capitol. I also got to run by the Watergate. It was kind of awesome to just run right by this stuff, and it was nice because today was actually really sunny (I think it rains a lot in the afternoons during the summer here). I also got to wander through the Hirshhorn Sculpture Gardens, which has some pretty awesome pieces. The most famous is "Burghers of Calais" by Auguste Rodin; I also saw one that was a giant bunny playing a big drum and then I looked and the artist's name is Barry Flanagan! Clare, is he related to you? You like bunnies and you play the drums! (Also, Clare, tell us about Vesper! And tell us if you went to the combination pizza hut and taco bell we saw a few months ago!) I went running first and then I was going to go to one of the art museums because I read somewhere that they were open late on Thursday evenings but apparently that's not true, so instead I walked back down the Mall and went to the Vietnam Memorial for a while.
Tomorrow I'm going to see Toy Story 3 with Xuefeng, Lauren, and my friend Anna...I wanted to go at midnight but I don't think that anyone else would have been up for that. Especially because it takes FOREVER to get anywhere here (today was the first day that I spent no more than an hour driving).

Oh, also, the news you've all been eagerly awaiting...the leggings have arrived in Boston! One of my neighbors picked them up for me and should be forwarding them to DC soon!
