The East River Promenade #nyc

Living the New Yorker life, I'd say my days are consumed almost entirely between the JP Morgan offices in lovely Brooklyn and the subway rides to & fro from our cutest little apartment in Manhattan (yes, most people live it the other way round).

The first thing I did here, when I stepped into our apartment ... was put sheets on my bed. The second thing I did was to go downstairs and get my gym membership! (Did you know you can bargain prices for gym memberships? Apparently there's a lot of room for negotiation, and this is where my Turkish bazaar skills kicked in).

Over the long weekend though, the weather was absolutely gorgeous, and I decided to catch up on long runs by the river I've been missing dearly...

Substituting the East River for the Charles, I logged several miles on the East River promenade as the sun set to the West (and I was shielded by its burning rays, by a wall of Manhattan skyscrapers in between us)... On this scenic route, I passed seaplanes taking off and landing closer to the Upper East Side, and as I went further South, I went underneath the Williamsburg and Brooklyn bridges. This year, the 4th of July fireworks were held on the East bank as well, where we had watched them underneath the Brooklyn Bridge the night before.

I love running to music, and always have my phone with me. Sadly though, I have not been able to beat my Nike+ friends yet because I only remember to turn it on, usually, on my way back from the run (cue for you to add me on Nike+ and feel good about yourself). On the bright side though, I forget to use it so often that the application is convinced I break a new record every time I launch it. ;) #strategy

In anticipation of this blog post I was going to make, I had to stop to take a east river run selfie. I did bear the embarrassment of stopping and pointing the camera at myself, looking like a total amateur taking pictures of herself running to send to all her friends ... all for you. :)

much looove,
