Well since I didn't get to run Saturday morning since I only got to sleep from about 1am-6:30am for the convention, so I decided to make up for it by running on Sunday morning instead. My friend showed me a 1.5 mile loop around the hotel we were staying at, so it was perfect, right? I figured I would run about 3 loops, which wouldn't be as much as I do at home, but at least it would be something.
The first loop went by fine...but as I was starting around for the second time, I had just grabbed a quick drink and taken less than a dozen steps when somehow I tripped on the sidewalk (which was flat! but there was a imperceptible uphill slope I guess) and fell pretty badly... Luckily I was near the hotel and my roommate was in the shower when I got back, so I was able to warn her that "it's not as bad as it looks" before she saw me with blood streaming down both legs. But she went out and bought gauze pads and bandaids and it all calloused. eventually.
I took some pictures after I got home Monday night, so here's a catalogue of the scrapes about 36 hours after I got them.
left knee, which is by far the worst. i can feel it every time i bend or unbend my leg.
right knee
right hand - the palms are sculling callouses, but the bottom one is from when i fell. that piece of skin in the lower corner is all nice and white with pus now.
Luckily my lab is all computers and not really any pathogens, so the hand wound hasn't been too problematic once i got over the awkwardness of holding a mouse with my fingers.
Oh noooo!! Lizzie!! somehow i knew you deserved that award :P I hope it's feeling better
ReplyDeleteOkay i know i always spell your name wrong. somehow it's embedded in my mind as Lizzie. SORRY! again.
